For the Love of God: How the church is better and worse than you ever imagined, a documentary by the Centre for Public Christianity, confronts the worst of what Christians have done - and also traces the origins of Western values like human rights, charity, humility, and non-violence back to the influence of Jesus.
Released as a feature length cut to cinema and television, as well as a four x 1hr episode series, and extensive online platform, this project is by far the most ambitious and monstrous in scope that I have been a part of. Shot in blocks over two years, we travelled across Australia, Europe, USA, and India interviewing the worlds leading philosophical and religious scholars, as well as shooting in some of the most iconic locations in the world including the Roman Colosseum, Vatican City, the Old City of Jerusalem, the Acropolis of Athens, and the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.
As sound recordist on the project I recorded all of the interviews and hostings we shot right across the world. Never knowing what the next location would hold had its challenges, especially when keeping equipment to a minimum was essential to our travel plans. Dealing with every type of noise you can possibly imagine over the course of the shoot, not to mention drastic changes in weather and culture, was only possible with a high level of film and travel experience, top class gear, and a comfortable relationship with the cast, crew, and talent. Definitely an unforgettable experience that I'll be talking about for the rest of my days.
