This short documentary film follows artisan craftsman Nick Taransky as he makes one of his handmade fly fishing rods.

The goal for this video was to let the natural sounds of the craft sing and carry the piece without the use of music.

As sound recordist I was blessed with a perfect location to record in. The insulation in Nick's garage acted as perfect sound baffling, giving us the controlled, sound-studio-like, acoustic to the recordings. This made the sound design and mixing process an absolute dream. I was able to work with the recordings I'd made as if they had be purpose recorded foley sound.

The result is a very calming, engaging, almost meditative piece.
