Insomnephobe is a very dark and surreal short film which follows a night in the life of a tortured insomniac. Laying awake he begins to hallucinate, unsure of what is real or imaginary. Slowly he is driven more and more insane untill he is too afraid to sleep.
As there was no dialogue, the sound design for this film was of highest importance. I used the design to help create a dark, tense world which reflects the emotional state of the protagonist. Futhermore, due to extreme weather conditions, almost no location audio was captured during the shoot. This meant nearly the entire soundscape for the film is constructed from complete silence.
